Hamilton Island is one of the 74 tropical islands in the Coral Sea, between the Queensland coast and the Great Barrier Reef. It is the largest inhabited island in the Whitsundays, positioned nearly half way between the coastline of Brisbane and Cairns.
The only island in the Whitsundays with its own commercial airport, there are direct flights to Hamilton Island from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Cairns and good connections from other major Australian cities. By boat, Fantasea Cruises operate regular 30-minute services daily from Shute Harbour (on the mainland).
